This is a stressful time for all, let alone for families where spouses are at each other’s throats and there is general marital discord. Here is what you need to know if you are contemplating divorce during this time in the State of Maryland:
1. MARYLAND Courts are largely closed to the public. If you want to file for divorce, you have to mail in your paperwork or file it on MDEC in certain counties. All court dates are delayed and the Court is currently set to remain closed until May 1, 2020.
2. I am available to meet with you. You can meet with your attorney via a web video call or in my office, where all of our employees are working from home. I have secure video conferencing that is easy to use and reliable. Simply inform me when you can that you prefer a video meeting and I will take it from there.
To make the most of your call, be aware that you can take your video call from a friend or family member’s home if that is more discreet.
If you would like to meet in person, we welcome you to come to our offices. We are open and you can rely on us to provide a clean environment with access to hand sanitizer, tissues, and restrooms/soap for hand washing.
